Fortunately, sexy RA Gavin Murphy offers to help her find a little inspiration... in the name of academics, of course. FINDING DANDELION (#1 sports fiction and a bestselling sports romance) Hooking up with that ridiculously attractive guy at the club should've been an easy item to check off Dani Hart's bucket list. Book excerpt: Winston Churchill, Britain’s great statesman, and Clementine, his beautiful, stalwart wife, went together through many crises to command center stage in their country’s finest hour during World War II. This double biography tells the story of this celebrated couple whose marriage endured, without scandal, for 57 years, until Churchill’s death in 1965. Their intense relationship would make tabloid headlines, but the public didn’t see the conflicts and clashes of two strong-willed, stubborn individuals whose love for each other withstood the tests of war and family tragedy — and whose fierce differences were essential to their triumph. “A grand profile in charisma.” — Chris Goodrich, Los Angeles Times “A grand historical romance.” — Booklist “A splendidly told tale... Hough is a charming writer and his admiration for his subject so genuine that readers will find his work irresistible.” — Publishers Weekly

Book excerpt: When Clementine, Lady Spencer-Churchill died in 1977, aged 92, she had become a much-loved and iconic figure to the British public. In spite of being instantly recognisable as the seemingly serene, cool and detached wife of Winston Churchill, she had nonetheless shunned publicity throughout her life. In this fully updated, award-winning biography, her daughter Mary Soames throws new light on her mother, writing with affection and candour of Clementine's fifty-seven-year marriage to Winston, her strongly held political views and a life that spanned many of the major events of the twentieth century. Clementine Churchill was the perfect wife for Winston. For the years of their marriage she supported him through the triumphs, disasters and tensions that ruled his public and private life. As a shy, passionate and highly-strung woman, Clementine's self-control was constantly tested to the utmost by the turmoil of public life and in the no less harrowing family crises and the ever-present financial anxieties. When they married in 1908, Winston was already a Member of Parliament, and thereafter their life was played out mostly in front of the nation and the world. Winston always trusted Clementine completely and she became his valuable counsellor and companion. He invariably wanted her opinion - but did not always take her advice. She believed in him unreservedly, and in his destiny. When first published in 1979, CLEMENTINE CHURCHILL won the Yorkshire Post Prize for Best First Work and a Wolfson Prize for History. This major revision makes full use of a wealth of new, intrinsically personal material that has come to light since then and elaborates further on many of the issues raised in the original edition.

Book excerpt: New Adult Contemporary Romance - Recommended for readers 18+ due to mature content ***This is the second book in the Dearest Series and a stand-alone novel.*** When soccer all-star Jax Avery collides with Dani Hart on his twenty-first birthday, their connection is instantaneous and explosive. For the first time in years, Jax isn't interested in his usual hit-it and quit-it approach. But Dani knows better. Allowing herself a night to be carefree and feel the intensity of their attraction won't change anything when it comes to dealing with a player. So when Jax doesn't recognize Dani the next time he sees her, it shouldn't be a total shock. The fact that he's her new roommate's brother? That's a shock. Dani doesn't regret that night with Jax, just the need to lie about it. Since her roommate has made it clear what she thinks about her brother's "type" of girl, the last thing Dani wants is to admit what happened. Jax knows he's walking a fine line on the soccer team. One more misstep and he's off the roster, his plans to go pro be damned. Except he can't seem to care. About anything... except for the one girl who keeps invading his dreams. Despite Jax's fuzzy memory of his hot hookup with his sister's friend, he can't stay away from her, even if that means breaking his own rules. But there are bigger forces at work-realities that can end Dani's college career and lies that can tear them apart. Jax realizes what he's losing if Dani walks away, but will he sacrifice his future to be with her? And will she let him if he does?ORDER OF BOOKS: Dearest Clementine, #1 Finding Dandelion, #2 Kissing Madeline, #3SHAMELESS, a Dearest Series spinoff, is now available!

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The final eventful years of one of history’s great leaders are brought to life in the concluding volume of this acclaimed biographical masterpiece. The final volume of Churchill’s official biography begins with the defeat of Germany in 1945 to his death nearly twenty years later. It sees him first at the pinnacle of his power, leader of a victorious Britain. In July 1945 at Potsdam, Churchill, Stalin, and Truman aimed to shape postwar Europe. But while still grappling with world issues Churchill returned to Britain for the general election results and was thrown out of office. For six years Churchill worked to restore the fortunes of Britain’s Conservative Party, while at the same time warning the world of Communist ambitions, urging the reconciliation of France and Germany, pioneering the concept of a united Europe, and seeking to maintain the closest possible links between Britain and the United States. His aim throughout was to achieve not confrontation with the Soviet Union but conciliation based firmly upon Western strength and unity. In October 1951 Churchill became prime minister for the second time. The Great Powers were at peace but under the shadow of a fearful new weapon, the hydrogen bomb. Hoping, after the election of Eisenhower in 1952 and the death of Stalin in 1953, for a fresh start in East–West relations, Churchill worked for a new summit conference; but in April 1955 ill health and pressure from colleagues forced him to resign. In retirement Churchill traveled widely; took up painting again; completed the four-volume History of the English-Speaking Peoples; and watched as world conflicts continued, still convinced that they could be resolved by statesmanship. “Never despair” remained his watchword, and his faith, until the end. That end came slowly; for those nearest to him it was a sad decline. Yet almost to his ninetieth year he was able to follow events with hope and faith in the ability of man to survive his own folly. “A milestone, a monument, a magisterial achievement . . . rightly regarded as the most comprehensive life ever written of any age.” —Andrew Roberts, historian and author of The Storm of War “The most scholarly study of Churchill in war and peace ever written.” —Herbert Mitgang, The New York Times

William Crossan’s Otago experience as a versatile storeman with a solid work ethic helped him survive on the Melanesian frontier where he encountered conflicting clans, cannibalism, cheating traders, and co-operative entrepreneurial big men. His diary provides many glimpses into Makiran society as it encountered new ideas, new employment, and western technology. It is a welcome addition to the sparse record of these cryptic copra traders seeking fortunes on the cusp of indigenous tradition and incoming colonialism.

Still swooning over the romantic conclusions of Pride & Prejudice and Anne of Green Gables, twelve-year-old Polly decides her purpose in life: helping along lonely hearts in search of love. Polly's only task this summer is to make deliveries for her parents' bakery, leaving ample time for this young cupid to find hearts to mend--beginning with the kite-store owner, Mr. Nightquist, who will pair perfectly with Miss Wiskerton (the unfairly labeled town curmudgeon). Polly's best friend Fran Fisk is in desperate need of a mother ever since hers ran off with a man she met on the Internet; Polly must find a match for Mr. Fisk. And while she's at it, it wouldn't hurt to find Clementine, Polly's teenaged sister, a beau worthy of her (so she can shed that brute, Clint). Polly's plans are in full swing, so she definitely cannot be bothered by the advances of classmate Brad Barker. But maybe Polly should have turned her attention to Miss Austen's Emma next, because she quickly learns the pitfalls of playing matchmaker. How will Polly patch up her own relationships, while ensuring that destined love can take its course?
